About the Author Charles Dickens (1812-70) was a political reporter and journalist whose popularity was established by the phenomenally successful Pickwick Papers (1836-7). His novels then captured and held the public imagination over a period of more than thirty years, including, A Christmas Carol (1843), A Tale of Two Cities (1859) and Great Expectations (1861). About the Designer Coralie Bickford-Smith is an award-winning designer at Penguin Books (U.K.), where she has created several highly acclaimed series designs. She studied typography at Reading University and lives in London.
